WHAT IS UPWARD BASKETBALL?
The Upward Basketball purpose statements:
- To share Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior with each player, coach, referee and family.
- To lead each person involved in Upward either to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ or to a closer walk with Him.
- To teach sportsmanship and respect for authority in every situation on and off the court.
- To lead each child to grow as Jesus grew – spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially.
- To teach children the fundamentals of basketball and to help them grow in their understanding and enjoyment of the sport.
Upward Basketball was founded by Caz McCaslin. Since it’s beginning in 1986, the emphasis has been upon Christ-likeness and good sportsmanship, not championships and trophies. It was founded upon Colossians 3:17: “Whatever you do, whether in word of deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Today, there are over 100.000 children participating in Upward worldwide.
The Upward program is a community program where your child can be involved in a sports activity that is Christ centered.
